a.) Sell Limit.
Let say current price is at 10, and you expecting trend is downtrend to price 2. But before the downtrend, you expecting a retracement first at price 15.
So you will set a pending order: Sell Limit at price 15, hopping that the trend will downtred toward price 2.
b.) Sell Stop
Let say current price is at 10, and you expecting a downtrend if the price breakdown at price 7. Expecting going lower to price 1.
So you will set a pending order: Sell Stop a price 7, hoping the trend will downtred toward price 1.

Hello rover,
Good question for the newbie :
www.metaquotes.net/knowledge_base/faq_trade/. --> Trading
![]()
so sell stop means when it reaches there it will sell and close my order?
it's cool and simple your explanation
thanks
finaly i understand
thanks
anyway, limit and stop order at MT and bank platform is different
sell limit at currenex means i want to sell as far as price is better than xxxx
so if current price is 2.0000 and u put limit order at 1.9980, it will be filled at 2.0000 (current price).
and sell stop at currenex means i want to sell as far as price is worse than xxxx
so if current price is 2.0000 and u put sell stop at 2.0020, it will be filled at 2.0000 (current price)
same case with buy position.
but for MT that picture explained perfectly![]()
